Notifications
Stay informed about important updates, deadlines, and activity. Customize which notifications you receive and how they're delivered.
What are Notifications?
Notifications keep you informed about:
- Upcoming deadlines and tasks
- System updates and announcements
- Social post status (published, failed)
- Connection issues that need attention
- Achievement milestones
Types of Notifications
In-App Notifications
Appear in the notification bell in the top navigation:
- Click the bell icon to see recent notifications
- Unread count shows as a badge
- Click a notification to take action
- Mark as read or dismiss
Push Notifications
Sent to your browser or mobile device:
- Appear even when not using StorytellerOS
- Require browser permission
- Can be enabled/disabled per type
Email Notifications
Sent to your email address:
- Weekly summary of activity
- Important alerts (failed posts, expired connections)
- System announcements

Tasks
- Task due date reminders
- Overdue task alerts
- Weekly task summary
Social
- Post published successfully
- Post failed to publish
- Connection expired
Marketing
- Campaign sent
- Subscriber milestones
- Connection issues
System
- Feature announcements
- Maintenance alerts
- Account updates
Viewing Notifications
- Click the bell icon in the top navigation
- See your most recent notifications
- Click View All for the full list
Notification List
Go to Dashboard → Notifications to see:
- All notifications, sorted by date
- Filter by type (tasks, social, system)
- Filter by read/unread
- Search notifications
Managing Notifications
Mark as Read
- Click a notification to mark as read
- Or click the checkmark icon
- Use Mark All Read for bulk action
Dismiss
- Click the X to dismiss
- Dismissed notifications are hidden but not deleted
Delete
- Only available in full notification list
- Permanently removes the notification
Tip
Check notifications at the start of each work session. Address any failed posts or expired connections immediately.
Notification Settings
Customize your notifications in Settings → Notifications:
By Channel
| Channel | Options |
|---|---|
| In-App | Always on (cannot disable) |
| Push | On/Off, requires browser permission |
| On/Off, choose frequency |
By Type
Enable or disable each notification type:
- Task reminders
- Social post status
- Connection alerts
- System announcements
- Weekly summaries
Quiet Hours
Set times when push notifications are silenced:
- Start and end time
- Timezone setting
- Notifications still collected, just not pushed
Note
Critical alerts (like failed scheduled posts) may still notify you during quiet hours to prevent missed deadlines.
Enabling Push Notifications
- Go to Settings → Notifications
- Click Enable Push Notifications
- Your browser will ask for permission
- Click Allow
- Push notifications are now active
If Permission Was Denied
- Click the lock icon in your browser's address bar
- Find Notifications in the site settings
- Change from Block to Allow
- Refresh the page
Email Frequency
Choose how often you receive email notifications:
- Immediate — As events happen
- Daily Digest — Once per day summary
- Weekly Summary — Once per week
- Never — No emails
Stay Connected
Important alerts about failed posts or expired connections should stay enabled. These help you catch problems before they affect your audience.
Best Practices
- Review daily — Check notifications at least once per day
- Enable push for urgent items — Failed posts, expired connections
- Use quiet hours — Protect your writing time
- Do not ignore alerts — Dismissed is not the same as resolved
- Adjust as needed — Too many notifications? Turn some off
