Task Management
Keep track of everything you need to do with a simple, author-focused task manager. Link tasks to books, set priorities, and never miss a deadline.
What is Task Management?
The Task Manager is a simple to-do list designed for authors. Unlike generic task apps, it connects to your books, pen names, and publishing schedule.
Creating Tasks
To create a new task:
- Go to Dashboard → Tasks
- Click the + New Task button
- Enter a task name (up to 500 characters)
- Add optional details below
Task Fields
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Name | What needs to be done (required) |
| Description | Additional details or notes (up to 10,000 characters) |
| Status | Pending, In Progress, Completed, or Cancelled |
| Priority | Low, Medium, High, or Urgent |
| Due Date | When the task needs to be completed |
| Linked Title | Connect to a specific book |
| Linked Pen Name | Connect to an author identity |
Tip
Link tasks to books when they are book-specific (like "finish chapter 5" or "upload cover art"). This helps you see all tasks related to a project in one place.
Task Views
You can view your tasks in different ways:
- List View — All tasks in a sortable table
- Priority View — Tasks grouped by priority level
- Status View — Tasks grouped by status
- Calendar View — Tasks shown on dates they are due
Filtering and Sorting
Find tasks quickly with filters:
- By Status — Show only pending, in progress, or completed
- By Priority — Focus on urgent or high-priority items
- By Book — See tasks for a specific title
- By Due Date — Find overdue or upcoming tasks
Priority Levels
| Priority | When to Use |
|---|---|
| Urgent | Must be done today or is blocking other work |
| High | Important, should be done this week |
| Medium | Normal priority, plan to do soon |
| Low | Nice to have, can wait |
Task Notifications
StorytellerOS can remind you about tasks:
- Due date reminders the day before
- Overdue alerts for missed deadlines
- Weekly summary of upcoming tasks
Configure notifications in Settings → Notifications.
Task Management Tips
- Break down big tasks — Instead of "write book," create tasks for each chapter or milestone
- Use due dates sparingly — Only add dates for tasks that truly have deadlines
- Review weekly — Check your task list each week to reprioritize
- Mark complete immediately — Celebrate small wins by checking things off right away
- Cancel, do not delete — If a task is no longer relevant, mark it cancelled to keep a record
Unified Calendar
Tasks with due dates appear on the unified calendar alongside your scheduled social posts, giving you one view of everything happening in your author business.
