Campaigns
Build campaigns from a business goal, creative, audience, success metric, and guarded budget.
The Campaigns Workspace
The Campaigns page supports connected Meta, Google, TikTok, LinkedIn, Pinterest, and X ad accounts. It is where you watch and manage what is already running. Every new campaign is built in one place: Create ads.
Create ads: one wizard, every destination
Create ads is the only way to build a new campaign, and it is the same seven steps wherever you start it from: the Ads Studio home page, the Campaigns tab, or your Amazon Ads card.
- Goal and the book it is for, plus the campaign group the ads belong to
- Where it runs is a pick list of your connected destinations, so one trip can launch on several at once
- Setup collects what each destination needs, such as the ad account and the page or profile it posts as
- Readers is the targeting: places, ages, interests, and your saved audiences where a destination supports them
- Creative is the images, video, or carousel, generated on brand or uploaded
- Copy is the headline, body, and call to action, checked against each destination's own limits
- Budget and launch records the budget, the success metric, and the spend you are approving
Nothing spends until you say so
Every campaign is created paused. After the wizard finishes you get a results screen listing what was created on each destination, and spending only begins when you press Start these ads there or on the group card. A destination whose rules do not allow a paused campaign is not created at all until that moment, and the wizard says so before you launch.
Tip
Your progress is saved as you go, so you can leave a half-built campaign and come back to it. Starting from a losing group card's Fresh variantpre-fills the goal and the group for you.
Connecting an Ad Account
- Go to Ads Studio → Campaigns
- Click Connect ad accounts
- Choose a supported destination and sign in with that platform
- Pick the ad account you want to use from the account selector at the top of the page
Tip
If you already connected this platform for scheduling social posts, connecting ads usually only takes one extra click, because StorytellerOS reuses the existing connection where the platform allows it.
Managing Campaigns
Once an ad account is connected, the account selector at the top of the page scopes everything below it: campaigns, spend, and currency all reflect whichever account you have selected. From there you can view and manage your running campaigns for that platform.
Create ads records daily, weekly, monthly, or lifetime budget intent, the campaign objective, and a success metric such as royalty ROAS, ACOS, CPC, CPL, CPM, or cost per view. Weekly and monthly limits are converted only when a destination requires a daily budget. The success metric you pick here is what the group card's winning or losing verdict is measured against.
Boosting a post you already published
Boost post is separate, and it stays on the Campaigns tab. Use it to put budget behind a social post that is already live. Use Create ads when you want a new campaign built from scratch.
Note
Book mapping and the campaign-to-book totals live on the Ads Studio overview page, not here. This page is for building and running the campaigns themselves.
Mapping Campaigns to Books
Unlike Amazon, Meta/Google/TikTok campaigns do not carry a book ASIN Ads Studio can read automatically, so you tell it yourself:
- Go to the Ads Studio overview page for the pen name running the campaign
- Find the campaign in the table and click Map books
- Select the book (or books, for box sets and series promotions) it is advertising
- Save
Once mapped, that campaign's spend counts toward the book's totals on both the overview P&L and the Books view.
Change Your Mind Anytime
Book mappings are not permanent. If a campaign starts promoting a different book, or you want to add a book to the mapping, open Map books again and update the selection.
Troubleshooting
If a campaign shows an Unmapped badge on the overview page, it has not been assigned to a book yet. See Troubleshooting on the overview page for the fix.
