Books
A book-by-book breakdown of ad spend, sales, and a plain-language recommendation — so you know exactly which titles to keep advertising.
The Books View
Where the overview page shows your whole pen name at once, the Books view breaks everything down title by title. For each book, you will see:
- Spend — total ad spend mapped to that book, across every connected platform
- Sales — revenue attributed to that book from your real sales records
- Status — a plain-language read on how the book is performing
- Recommendation — what to do about it
Understanding Book Status
Instead of making you eyeball a spreadsheet of numbers, each book gets a status label based on how its ad spend compares to its target ACOS:
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Winner | Spend is comfortably beating your target, keep it running |
| Watching | Performing close to target — worth keeping an eye on |
| Dying | Slipping below target — consider adjusting or trimming spend |
| Kill | Consistently unprofitable against your target — consider pausing |
Tip
Status is a starting point for your own judgment, not an automatic action. A new release can look like "Watching" for a while before it settles into a clear pattern — give fresh campaigns a little runway before reacting to the label.
Per-Book Target ACOS
By default, every book is scored against the same target ACOS for the pen name. Some books deserve a different bar — a free or heavily discounted first-in-series title, for example, is meant to spend more relative to its own sales because its job is to pull readers into the rest of the series. Or a box set might be worth a higher spend ceiling because it carries more total revenue per sale.
For books like these, you can set a target ACOS override right on that book, so its status and recommendation are judged against the bar that actually makes sense for it — instead of being flagged as underperforming by a rule meant for a different kind of book.
Note
A book's spend and sales figures include the same KENP context and non-USD handling as the overview P&L — see the Ads Studio overview for how those are calculated.
Use It to Decide, Not Just Report
The Books view is meant to answer "what should I do next?" as much as "what happened?" — a Kill status is your cue to pause or rework a campaign; a Winner is your cue to consider increasing its budget.
Troubleshooting
If a book's numbers look incomplete, it is usually because some of its ad spend has not been mapped to it yet. Check the overview page's troubleshooting section for fixing unmapped ASINs and unmapped campaigns.
