Understanding the Studios
StorytellerOS is organized into five studios, each handling a different part of your author business. Here is what each one does.
The Five Studios
Think of each studio as a different room in your author office. Each room is designed for a specific type of work:
- Project Studio — Your writing desk and filing cabinet
- Marketing Studio — Your email and newsletter station
- Sales Studio — Your bookkeeping and sales counter
- Social Studio — Your social media command center
- Knowledge Studio — Your business intelligence and learning center
You do not have to use all five studios right away. Most authors start with the Project Studio and add the others as their needs grow.
The Project Studio is your creative headquarters. This is where you organize everything related to writing your books.
What you can do:
- •Pen Names — Create and manage multiple author identities with brand voice guides
- •Series — Organize multi-book series with shared worldbuilding and characters
- •Books (Titles) — Manage each book project from outline to publication
- •Characters — Build detailed character profiles with goals, motivations, and conflicts
- •Chapters & Scenes — Break down your manuscript into manageable pieces
- •Writing Interface — Write directly in StorytellerOS with version history
- •Story Bible — Keep track of your fictional world's rules and details
The Marketing Studio helps you build and maintain relationships with your readers through email marketing.
What you can do:
- •Email Campaigns — Create and send newsletters to your subscribers
- •Contacts — Manage your subscriber database
- •Lists — Organize subscribers into different groups
- •Tags — Label contacts for targeted marketing
- •FluentCRM Integration — Connect to your self-hosted email platform
- •Privacy-First — You own your data, not us
The Sales Studio helps you sell books and track your royalties across all platforms.
What you can do:
- •Direct2Readers — Sell ebooks and audiobooks directly to readers (keep up to 90%)
- •Products — Manage your book catalog across formats
- •Sales Analytics — Track revenue and identify bestsellers
- •Pricing — Set and test different price points
- •Digital Delivery — Automatic delivery via BookFunnel
- •Vendor Management — Track your service providers and expenses
The Social Studio helps you maintain a consistent social media presence without spending all day online.
What you can do:
- •Content Calendar — See your entire social schedule at a glance
- •Post Scheduling — Schedule posts across multiple platforms
- •Campaigns — Coordinate related posts around book launches
- •AI Image Generation — Create graphics with Freepik integration
- •AI Captions — Generate platform-specific captions that match your voice
- •Multi-Platform — Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter/X, LinkedIn, and more
How the Studios Work Together
The studios are not isolated — they share information to make your life easier:
- Pen names created in Project Studio appear in Marketing and Social for selecting which author identity to use
- Book titles from Project Studio can be linked to email campaigns and social posts
- Sales data from Sales Studio can trigger automated emails in Marketing Studio
- Character and series info from Project Studio can inform AI-generated social captions in Social Studio
Privacy-First Design
All five studios follow our BYOK (Bring Your Own Keys) philosophy:
- Your data is stored in your Airtable account
- Your manuscripts are stored in your GitHub repository
- AI features use your own API keys
- Email data stays in your FluentCRM installation
We never store your creative work or reader data on our servers. You maintain complete ownership and control.
Which Studio Should I Start With?
It depends on where you are in your author journey:
- Writing your first book? Start with Project Studio
- Have books and want to grow your email list? Start with Marketing Studio
- Want to sell direct and keep more royalties? Start with Sales Studio
- Need to build your social media presence? Start with Social Studio
There is no wrong choice. Pick the area that will help you most right now, and explore the others when you are ready.
