Understanding the Studios
StorytellerOS is organized into eight studios, each handling a different part of your author business. Here is what each one does.
The Eight Studios
Think of each studio as a different room in your author office. Each room is designed for a specific type of work:
- Project Studio — Your writing desk and filing cabinet
- Publishing Studio — Your book formatting and production room
- Marketing Studio — Your email and newsletter station
- Sales Studio — Your bookkeeping and sales counter
- Ads Studio — Your advertising control room
- Media Studio — Your asset library and design shelf
- Social Studio — Your social media command center
- Knowledge Studio — Your business intelligence and learning center
Alongside the studios, StorytellerOS includes top-level Finance, Tasks, Calendar, and Time Tracking areas that work across your whole business.
You do not have to use all eight studios right away. Most authors start with the Project Studio and add the others as their needs grow.

How the Studios Work Together
The studios are not isolated — they share information to make your life easier:
- Pen names created in Project Studio appear in Marketing and Social for selecting which author identity to use
- Book titles from Project Studio can be linked to email campaigns and social posts
- Sales data from Sales Studio can trigger automated emails in Marketing Studio
- Character and series info from Project Studio can inform AI-generated social captions in Social Studio
Privacy-First Design
All eight studios follow our BYOK (Bring Your Own Keys) philosophy:
- Your data lives in your own secure, isolated workspace — and you can export everything anytime to Airtable, GitHub, Google Drive, or a zip file
- AI features use your own API keys
- Email sends through your own SMTP provider (SES, Resend, Postmark, or any provider) — you pay only per send
You maintain complete ownership and control of your creative work and reader data — export it whenever you want, in whatever format works for you. (Accounts created before mid-2026 may still run in a legacy mode where Airtable and GitHub are the primary storage.)
